Roberta Mclaughlin

August 10, 1923 — July 22, 2012

Roberta M. McLaughlin, 88, a resident of Princeton, Iowa died on Sunday, July 22, 2012 at Manor Care nursing home Utica Ridge, Davenport, Iowa, surrounded by her loved ones.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, Iowa.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery, Princeton.  Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice or to Manor Care Utica Ridge.

Roberta was born on August 10, 1923 in Clinton, Iowa to Howard and Hazel (Pranger) Sible and was a 1941 graduate of Clinton High School.  Roberta married her high school sweetheart, David E. McLaughlin on March 27, 1946 in Clinton.  The couple made their home in Princeton where they raised their three children.  David preceded her in death on May 28, 2010.

Roberta worked for United Telephone (Sprint) for several years, retiring in 1983.  She also worked for the North Scott School district.  She was very active in the Princeton political scene and was a member of the Grassy Lane Club, the Lions Club and Zion Lutheran Church, Princeton.

Those left to honor her memory are her brother, Howard Sible, Bettendorf; her daughter, Debra (Mike) Ruggles, Princeton; her son, Terry (Diana) McLaughlin, Chicago, Illinois; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her soul mate, David McLaughlin; her son, Jerry McLaughlin; her grandson, Jason McLaughlin; her sister-in-law, Grace Sible; her parents and many beloved friends.
