Robert C. Bell, 55, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died of natural causes on Tuesday, August 8, 2006 at his home. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday, August 11, 2006 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Services to celebrate his life will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, August 12, 2006 at the funeral home. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday at Rock Creek Cemetery, Ollie, Iowa. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Rock Creek Church Restoration Fund.


He was born December 10, 1950 in Burlington, Iowa, the son of Robert S. & Bessie E. (Soucek) Bell and earned a Bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. Bob was a Supply Management Specialist in the Four-Wheel Drive Loader Module Division of Deere & Company, Davenport Works where he had been employed since September of 1979. He donated generously to the Smithsonian Institution and many other worthy causes. Bob was a devoted son and a loving and generous brother and uncle. He was an avid boater and fisherman.

Those left to honor his memory include his mother, Bessie E. Bell of Burlington, Iowa; his sister, Barbara Bell of Pasadena, California and her son, John Abt of Paris, France; his sister, Karen Tyllick and her husband, Cliff of Austin, Texas; his sister, Deborah Blaedel and her husband, Mark of Ames, Iowa and their daughters, Anna Blaedel of Berkeley, California and Emily Blaedel of Ames; and his brother, Thomas Bell of Burlington.
His father, Robert S., preceded him in death. Bob was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be sorely missed.
