Robert E. “Bob” Rose, 78, of Bettendorf, died Sunday, July 16, 2006 at his residence.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 19, 2006 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the family.
Bob was born September 14, 1927 in Davenport, the son of William H. & Bertha I. (Scott) Rose. During World War II he served in the United States Army.
Bob was united in marriage to Mary M. Henrick on February 27, 1954 in Buffalo, Iowa. She preceded him in death on September 6, 1970. He later was united in marriage to Louise E. Harding on December 22, 1983 in East Moline, Illinois.
Bob retired in 1991 after 41 years of service at Alcoa Works, Bettendorf. He held various positions with United Steelworkers Local 105 for 25 years.
Bob served as Cubmaster for Pack 82 of Bettendorf for 15 years and he also coached Little League. He had also volunteered at Luther Manor in Bettendorf for 10 years. He will always be remembered as a loyal and caring husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Louise; his daughter and son-in-law, Colleen & James Anderson, of Homer Glen, Illinois; his sons, Mike Rose, of Davenport, Kevin Rose and his wife, Mary Ann, of Bettendorf, and Patrick Rose and his wife, Sheri, of Marietta, Georgia; his stepson, Bryan Harding, and his wife, Hyunjoo, of Fayetteville, Georgia; his step-daughter, April Harding, of Bethesda, Maryland; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; his sister and brother-in-law, Judy & Allen Noftsker, of Moline, Illinois; and his brother and sister-in-law, Bill & Jane Rose, of Sun Lakes, Arizona.
