Robert E. “Bob” Sickels, 75, a resident of Eldridge, Iowa died on Thursday, February 23, 2006 at Trinity Pathway Hospice, Bettendorf, Iowa.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, February 27, 2006 at the Cornerstone Baptist Church, Eldridge. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt, Iowa. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Sunday at Chambers Funeral Home, Eldridge. Memorials may be made to the Cornerstone Baptist Church.
He was born January 21, 1931 in Barberton, Ohio, the son of Frank & Opal (Potts) Sickels. On December 4, 1953, he was united in marriage to Marlita E. Moyer in Barberton.
Bob was employed as a millwright at John Deere Davenport Works, retiring in 1991 after 16 years of service.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Japan. Upon his honorable discharge in 1948, he received the World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal of Japan.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Marlita; his daughters & sons-in-law, Christie & Bill McCroskey and Cheri & Dean Tittle, all of Charlotte, Iowa; his son & daughter-in-law, Bob & Debi Sickels of Marengo, Illinois; his grandchildren, Brandy, Blake, Travis, Levi, Logan, Jesse & Cory; and his sisters, Virginia Fodor of Barberton, Ohio and Charlene Lyle of Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Bob was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Linton; and by his parents.
