Robert G. Allison, 77, of Bettendorf, passed peacefully on Thursday, August 25, 2005 at his home after a one-year battle with lung cancer.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, August 27, 2005 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Bettendorf. Following his wishes, his body was deeded to the University of Iowa Deeded Body program for medical research. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House or to the Meal Service of Scott County. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Bob was born March 26, 1928 in Burlington, Iowa, the son of James E & Irene G. (Fritz) Allison. He was united in marriage to Celine J. Witte on April 11, 1953 in St. Paul, Iowa.
During the Korean Conflict, Bob served two years in the U.S. Army. After he was honorably discharged, he held various jobs including management positions with the former Heyman Corporation and Heyman, Inc. Most recently, he had been a courier with Metropolitan Medical Laboratory of the Quad-Cities.
Bob unselfishly cared for his wife, Celine, through a 30-year prolonged illness until her death in 1995.
Those left to honor his memory include his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa & Tom Maicke, of Westmont, Illinois; his sons, Mark Allison, and his wife, Kirsten, of Boise, Idaho, Barry Allison, and his wife, Cindy, of Osceola, Iowa, and Dan Allison, of Iowa City, Iowa; his granddaughters, Kelli, Brooke, Jessica Bundgard, and McKenzie Nichols, and her husband, Joey; his grandsons, Mike, and his wife, Ami, Jon, and his fiancé, Rachael, Steve, Connor, and Teagan Allison; four great-grandchildren, Alayna and Timothy Nichols and Cameron and Jase Allison.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Richard.
