Robert H. Auliff, 68, a resident of rural LeClaire, Iowa died Tuesday, August 24, 2004 at his home. He was the recipient of a heart transplant 9 years ago and thoroughly appreciated & enjoyed a second chance at life.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 12:00 Noon Sunday, August 29, 2004 at Boll’s Community Center, Princeton, Iowa. Following the service, the family will greet friends & relatives until 5:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice or to. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, Iowa is assisting the family with arrangements.
He was born June 24, 1936 in the same home he lived in all of his life. His parents were Russell & Eunice (Lively) Auliff. On August 6, 1954, he was united in marriage to Karen J. Wilson in Argo, Iowa.
Robert retired in 1990 as manager of Twin State, Inc. of Eldridge, Iowa where he had worked for 10 years. In earlier years, he farmed the family farm in rural LeClaire.
After retiring, he took an avid interest in woodworking, refinishing & repairing furniture and antiquing. Each week he could usually be found in DeWitt attending the auction of household goods, antiques and other collectibles.
Some of his favorite times were spent playing cards with his friends each Tuesday & Friday and being part of the “Breakfast Club” at the Argo General Store. In earlier years, he also enjoyed traveling and fishing trips.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Karen; his children, Robert “Pete” & Julie Auliff of Walcott, Iowa & their children, Jacob, Katrina & Elizabeth; John Auliff of Steamboat Springs, Colorado; Peggy & Ken Ferris of Steamboat Springs and their children, Amy & her husband, Brad and their children, Drew & Cade, Angie, Brad, Luke & Bryant; Joe & Cathy Auliff of DeWitt, Iowa & their children, Jennifer, Julie & her husband, Rocky, Matt & Jordan; and Kelly Auliff & her companion, Rod DeBlieck of East Moline, Illinois & her daughter, Kara; and his sister & brother-in-law, Evelyn & Ivan Wilson of LeClaire.
