Robert M. Lewis, 73, a resident of Walcott, Iowa, died May 10, 2005 at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport, Iowa after a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, May 13, 2005 at Chambers Funeral Home, Eldridge, Iowa. Burial will be in Maysville Cemetery, Maysville, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Maysville Volunteer Fire Department.
Robert was born August 25, 1931 in Atkinson, Illinois, the son of Maurice E. & Phyllis M. (McHenry) Lewis. He was married to Janet Anderson in 1954. He was later married to Marlene Reimers on May 28, 1966 in Davenport.
Robert retired in 1993 after several years working at the former Kent Feeds in New Liberty, Iowa. In earlier years, he had been employed in farming, had worked as a truck driver, a driver for Greyhound Bus Lines, a transit bus driver for the City of Davenport and had worked as a real estate agent for Mel Foster. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading and had a mechanical inclination for lawnmowers.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Marlene; his daughters, Paula Klauer of Alpha, Illinois, Carla Pauli and her husband, Lloyd of Coal Valley, Illinois, Kelene McCollum and her husband, David of Dodge City, Kansas and Teresa Boring and her husband, Paul of Parkersburg, Iowa; his sons, Steven Lewis of Strasburg, Colorado and Rick Lewis of Prophetstown, Illinois; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Barb & Ken Rahn and Judy & Mack Pullman, all of Geneseo, Illinois; and his brother-in-law, Rodney Reiling of Atkinson, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Roberta Reiling; and his brother, Royce Lewis.
