Robert M. “Bob” Hofmann, 77, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died peacefully at home on Saturday, July 14, 2007 surrounded by his beloved family.
His funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, July 18. 2007 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Bettendorf where he was a member. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf where the family will lead a Rosary at 7:45 P.M. Memorials may be made to the Bettendorf Family Y or the Genesis Cardiac Rehabilitation Program.
He was born June 25, 1930 in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Dr. William P. & Marie (Burnett) Hofmann. Bob was a graduate of the former St. Ambrose Academy, St. Ambrose University and St. Louis University. On February 12, 1955, he was united in marriage to Marian A. McMann in Davenport. She preceded him death on May 18, 2003.
Bob was the administrator of St. Joseph’s Infirmary, a 500-bed teaching hospital in Louisville, Kentucky and was a fellow in the American College of Hospital Administrators.
He was a faithful and devoted member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and was a long-time member of the choir. Bob enjoyed attending daily mass and his religious faith was a cornerstone of his life. He will always be remembered for his generosity, kindness and being a friend to so many. The Mississippi River was a favorite part of his life and he so much loved his home along the river.
He was a charter member of the Bettendorf Family Y and a member of the Davenport Country Club.
Those left to honor his memory include his children, Marybeth Hofmann of Bettendorf, Robert Hofmann of Bettendorf and John (Teresa) Hofmann of Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin; his grandchildren, Lindsey Hofmann, Colin Hofmann and Connor Hofmann; his sister, Mary Jo (Dr. Donald) Heming of Bettendorf; his brothers, Dr. William B. (Eda) Hofmann of Pleasant Valley, Iowa, Dr. Ronald (Tilis) Hofmann of Davenport and Michael Hofmann of Davenport; and many wonderful nieces & nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dr. James Hofmann.
