Robert W. Tripp, 58, of Bettendorf, Iowa, died Thursday, April 20, 2006 at Trinity Pathway Hospice at Terrace Park, Bettendorf. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 A.M., Monday, April 24, 2006 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Sunday evening at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. A Christian Wake service will be held at 7:00 P.M., Sunday evening at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be held at the Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Iowa Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or a charity of your choice.
Bob was born June 7, 1947 in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Wesley E. & F. Kathryn (Reis) Tripp. Upon graduating from Assumption High School in Davenport, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served during the Vietnam Conflict.
Bob was retired from Williams, White & Co. in Moline, Illinois where he had been employed as an Applications Engineer. He was a member of the American Legion Post 154 in Bettendorf.
Those left to honor his memory include his sons, Terry Higgins, of Knoxville, Tennessee, Christopher Tripp, of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Jeffrey Tripp, Bettendorf; his mother, F. Kathryn Tripp, of LeClaire, Iowa; his sister, Cheryl Allbee, of LeClaire; his grandsons, Eric and Ryan; a niece and 4 nephews; and his special friend and caregiver, Donna Green.
Bob was preceded in death by his father; and his grandparents, Frank & Clara Tripp and Robert & Florence Reis.
