Roen Paulsen

Roen I. Paulsen, 81, of Bettendorf, passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, November 9, 2018 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services on Friday at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Rock Island National Cemetery.  A luncheon will follow at Palmer Hills Golf Course after the committal service. Memorials may be made to the Iowa City Music Auxiliary or to The First Tee of the Quad-Cities.

Roen was born October 18, 1937 in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, the son of Neal I. & Ruby A. (Long) Paulsen.  He was united in marriage to Ellen J. Albertson on August 11, 1962 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  She preceded him in death on November 18, 2002.

Roen had been involved in sales for many years, including Conoco Oil, Commerce Clearing House (CCH) and most recently with the Hodge Company in Bettendorf.  Upon retirement, he enjoyed working at Palmer Hills Golf Course.

In addition to golf, he enjoyed the company of friends, Thursday mornings at Hy-Vee, playing cards and traveling.

Those left to honor his memory include his daughters and spouses, Shannon Paulsen (Tena Houston) of Moberly, Missouri and Pam (Jeff) Dorale of Iowa City; his grandchildren, Jack and Julia Dorale; and his brother, Gary Paulsen of Minnesota.

In addition to his wife, Ellen, Roen was preceded in death by his parents.
