Roger L. Rigby, 66, of Ayrshire, Iowa, died Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Hope Lodge in Iowa City, Iowa where he lost his battle with Leukemia.
Per his request there will be no services or visitation. Roger’s family will be holding a private memorial service. He will be laid to rest in Pine Hill Cemetery in Davenport, Iowa next to his daughter Christina.
Roger was born October 12, 1948 in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the son of John & Dorothy (Donahue) Rigby. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War where he was awarded two Purple Hearts.
He had been employed as a machinist for many years before retirement. Roger enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and, most of all, spending time with his grandchildren.
Those left to honor his memory include his daughters and sons-in-law, Kim & Mike McLaughlin of Janesville, Wisconsin, Angela & Eric Koberg of Eldridge and Jessica Harvey-Rigby of Champlin, Minnesota; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild on the way; his sisters, Patricia Rigby of Grove City, Ohio, Betty (Alan) Beekman of Dakota City, Nebraska, Kay Smith of Tiffin, Iowa and Mary Frederiksen of Pocohontas, Iowa; his brothers, Mick (Joanne) Rigby of Huxley, Iowa, Terry Rigby of Bettendorf, Iowa and Tim Rigby of Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Christina Rigby in 2011; his sister, Debbie Smith; and a close family friend, Mark Dahl.
