Roland G. “Ron” Rauch, 76, a resident of Princeton, Iowa, died Thursday, August 2, 2007 at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, August 6, 2007 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M., Sunday at the funeral home. Burial with military honors conducted by the Moline American Legion Post 246 will be held in Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the family.
Ron was born March 9, 1931 in Davenport. During the Korean Conflict, he served in the United States Army and was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the Bronze Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the ROK Presidential Unit Citation. He was honorably discharged in 1954.
On June 4, 1955, he was united in marriage to Blanche Y. Van Pelt in Davenport.
Ron retired in 1993 after several years of service as a mechanical engineer with Von Maur Department Store in Davenport. In earlier years he had done construction work around the Quad-Cities. He enjoyed working on cars, working in his yard, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Blanche; his daughter Renee Doyle (Bryan), of Davenport; his son, Brian Rauch (Janet), of Bettendorf; his grandchildren, Danielle (Patrick) Duquette, of Bettendorf, Jacob Doyle, of Princeton, Brianna Rauch, of Hillsdale, Illinois, and Kat and Sean Dolan, of Bettendorf; and his great-grandchildren, Emma and Ethan Duquette.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents; and by his sister, Tamara.
