Rollon “Red” Davis, 81, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa, died Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Red was born October 31, 1926 in Cave City, Kentucky, the son of Tom & Esther (Logsdon Wherry) Davis. On April 7, 1945 he was united in marriage to Marion Pallischeck in Rock Island, Illinois. She preceded him in death on February 29, 2008.
Red worked for approximately 58 years in various management positions with Lujack Auto Plaza.
He was a member of the Circle Four Square Dance Club, the National Rifle Association and a long time member of the Lindsay Park Boat Club.
He enjoyed camping with friends and loved to travel, mostly trips to Europe. He was an avid hunter and was awarded the Iowa State Skeet Championship and many other awards for skeet shooting.
Those left to honor his memory include his daughter, Linda (Donald) Hill of Woodhull, Illinois; his grandchildren, Danielle Davis Drexler of South Carolina and James R. Davis of Bettendorf; his great-granddaughter Katie B. Drexler and his sister, Beverly (Larry) Barnhouse of Keithsburg, Illinois.
Along with his wife, Marion he was preceded in death by his sons, James A. Davis and Ronnie Davis; his sisters, Jaunita Davis and Dorothy Jean Davis and his brother, Charles Davis.
