Ron Slaughter, 71, a resident of Bettendorf, died Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at UnityPoint Trinity Bettendorf.
A Memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, May 23, 2014 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services on Friday. Memorials may be made to the family.
Ron was born on July 6, 1942 in Davenport, Iowa. On April 21, 1984 in Bettendorf, he married Carol Gilmore.
Ron worked as a dump truck driver for Kuehl Construction Company. He was a HAM radio operator and enjoyed motorcycles.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Carol; step children, Mike (Vicki) Gravert of Davenport, Dee (Ken) Scheib of Bettendorf and Michele (Marc) Bolinger of Moline; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one brother.
He was preceded in death by his father and a step-son, Jason.
