Ronald Beitz

Ronald W. Beitz, 81, of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2021 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport, Iowa.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at Rock Island National Cemetery in Rock Island, Illinois.  Those wishing to attend the service should meet at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf by 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.

Ron was born July 6, 1940 in Iowa City, Iowa.  He entered the United States Navy in 1959 and served in the Pacific Theater during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged after ten years of service.

Ron was united in marriage to Judy Draese in March of 1959. He was later united in marriage to Nelda K. Garner in Idaho Falls, Idaho in August of 1963.

Ron retired in 2006 from Alcoa after thirty-seven years in the electrical department. He enjoyed car racing of all kinds and had also worked on race cars. In earlier years, he enjoyed bowling and various leagues and playing golf.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Nelda; his daughters, Susan (Trent) Holyoak and Jessica Beitz, all of Bettendorf; and his grandchildren, Bentley, William, Tatum, Brian, David, Adam and Matthew.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd & Annie (Grigg) Rose; his daughters, Christy Lanning and Kathy Arnold; and his grandson, Michael.
