Ronald W. George

Funeral services for Ronald W. George, 89, of Bettendorf will be 11:00 am on Friday, April 11, 2025, at Grace Evangelical Free Church, Davenport. Inurnment will take place at the Rock Island National Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted. Family will greet friends on Friday from 9:00 am to 11:00am at the church.

Ronald passed away on Monday, April 7, 2025, at UnityPoint Health, Bettendorf, IA.

Ronald was born on September 18, 1935, in Davenport, IA, the son of John and Emma (Little) George. He married Gail L. Lester in Manchester, IA, on March 30, 1957. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He attended Augustana College, Rock Island. He worked at the Rock Island Arsenal as a Tech Spec Writer, retiring in 1995.

He was a member of Grace Evangelical Free Church, Davenport, Gideons International, and he was a former Lion’s Club member. He enjoyed Bible studies, teaching about Jesus, reading, writing, camping, photography and woodworking.

Survivors include his wife of 68 wonderful years, Gail, of Bettendorf, daughters, Susan (Doug) Littrel, Cathleen (James) Hettrick, son, Ronald (Ione) George Jr, grandchildren, Bryan (Becky Kay) Littrel, Rebecca (Sean) Sullivan, Michael Littrel, Matthew (Diana) Littrel, Kimberly Littrel, Evelyn (Michael) George MD, Alec George and Daniel Hettrick, great grandchildren, Nathan (Lauren) Littrel, Steven Littrel, Delainey Sullivan, Presley Sullivan, Parker Sullivan, Haley Heston, Nicholas Heston, Samantha Littrel, Gabriel Littrel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his twin sons, Steven Wesley George and Michael William George and brothers, Dale George, David George and John George.

Memorials may be directed to Grace Evangelical Free Church, Gideons International, and Samaritans Purse.
