Ronald James Gill

Funeral services for Ronald James Gill, 76, of Bettendorf, will be 10:30 am on Saturday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, IA. Inurnment will take place at Glendale Cemetery at a later date. Family will greet friends on Saturday from 9:30 am to service time at the funeral home. Ronald passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at his home in Bettendorf. 

Ronald J. Gill was born on June 2, 1948, in Davenport, the son of Richard and Marguerite (O’Brien) Gill. Ronald married Shirley Kay Reep on July 10, 1986, in Oswego, NY. He worked for Local Union #309 for over 20 years and Local 40 in New York for 4 years, retiring in 1993. He enjoyed bowling, drag racing and racing RC Boats. 

 Survivors include his wife, Shirley, of Bettendorf, IA, son, Richard Lee Gill of Galva, IA, daughter, Michelle Lynn Gill-Cook of Bettendorf, IA, step-daughters, Tammy (Robert) Gill of Bettendorf, IA, Judy (Dana) Blackman of Sumpter, SC, Step-son, Lenny James or Boca Ratan, FL, 12 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, sisters, Sandy Collier of LeClaire, IA, Judy Harris of Davenport, IA, brothers, Michael Gill of Henderson, NV and Dennis Gill of Bettendorf, IA.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Jeffrey S. Gill, brothers, Richard Gill, Gerald Gill, Teddy Gill, Ernest Gill, Robert Gill and sisters, Mary Jewell and Peggy Huckeba.
