Ronald L. Ricklefs, 63, of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away at his home on May 12, 2015. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 16, at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Davenport, Stake Center. Visitation will be Friday, May 15 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf, Iowa. Graveside services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 18, at Rock Island National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend should gather at 9:00 a.m. at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.
Ron was born July 11, 1951 in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Maynard and Mildred Ricklefs. He graduated from Pleasant Valley High School in 1969. Ron was a veteran of The United States Navy, where he served from 1971-1974, specializing in fire control and electronic testing. He was a life-long resident of the Quad Cities, retiring from the Rock Island Arsenal in 2008 after 25 years of service. Ron was a member of the Ford Motor Club and loved antique cars and trains. He was also a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and the NRA.
Ron is survived by his wife, Julie (Bettendorf); two brothers, Terry and Allan (Davenport); and a sister, Sharon (Lancaster, California). Also surviving are one son Michael (Kat) of Misawa, Japan; three grandchildren (Bella, Phillip, and Evelyn); a step son Charlie and a niece (Judith). He was preceded in death by his parents.
