Rose Griffin, 92, a life-long resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at the Iowa Masonic Health Facility in Bettendorf.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. She will be laid to rest at Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Iowa Masonic Health Facility for their Music & Memory Program or to Genesis Hospice.
She was born in Bettendorf on August 20, 1924, the daughter of Charles & Katherine (Bednick) Dubil. On November 7, 1953, she was united in marriage to Ralph C. Griffin in Bettendorf. He preceded her in death on February 11, 1991.
Rose was a devoted homemaker, mom & grandma. She loved to cook and bake and her loved ones will always remember the wonderful cookies she made. Her beloved family, especially her grandchildren, were the joy of her life.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, Pamela (Neal) Schroder of Bettendorf, Carol (Norman) McDonald of Ames, Iowa and John Calhoun of Bettendorf; her grandchildren, Jason (Pamela) Calhoun, Natalie Hackney, Amanda Schroder, Adrienne (Aaron) Wheeler, Eric (Oliva) McDonald and Brian McDonald; her great-grandchildren, Shane, Cole, Elena Rose, Emily, William and Alexis Rose; her sisters, Katherine Holst of Bettendorf and Helen Glynn of Davenport, Iowa; her brother, Nick Dubil of Davenport; and many other relatives and wonderful friends.
In addition to her husband, Rose was preceded in death by her sisters, Anna Korbelik, Mary Lieshner and Eva Jugenheimer; and her brothers, John Dubil and Andrew Dubil.
We would like to thank the staff at Iowa Masonic Healthcare Facility for the excellent care given to our mother. We would especially like to thank the staff at Ann's Place. You cared for our mother as if she were your own. We also want to thank you for the support you gave our family. If not for that support this journey would have been much harder. Also, thank you to Genesis Hospice for the care you provided our mother.
