Rosella M. “Rose” Beintema, 82, a resident of Davenport, Iowa, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2005 at Good Samaritan Center, Davenport. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M., Friday, July 1, 2005 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Thursday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the family.
Rose was born February 8, 1923 in Bettendorf, the daughter of George & Rose (Judson) Hicks. She was united in marriage to Edward James Ryner in July of 1941 in Davenport. She was later united in marriage to Walter R. Beintema on July 11, 1969 in Rock Island. He preceded her in death on July 21, 1983.
Rose had worked in a variety of jobs, but she was primarily devoted to her home and her family. She enjoyed fishing, bowling, and watching the Chicago Cubs. She will always be remembered as someone who always cared for others.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Deena Rae Reiss and her husband, Christian, of Davenport and Naomi Ann Davis of Muscatine, Iowa; her son, Edward James Ryner, of Davenport; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and her brother Paul Hicks.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters Naomi Kingsley, Ethal Hicks, Emma Leonard, and Nancy Milhouse; and her brothers, Merle, George, Russel, Jim, and Howard.
