Funeral services for Rosemary Gordy, 76, of Bettendorf, IA, will be 10:00 am on Friday at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Bettendorf, IA. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Family will greet friends on Thursday from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, IA.
Rosemary passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA.
Rosemary F. Pauli was born on May 18, 1946, in Davenport, the daughter of Lloyd and Charlene (Curran) Pauli. She married Dickie “Dick” R. Gordy on February 27, 1965, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Davenport. He preceded her in death on October 18, 2016. In her earlier years she worked as a clerical typist for J.I. Case, Bettendorf. She also worked as crossing guard and as baker for the Pleasant Valley Schools from 1982-2005. Rosemary served as Bettendorf City Alderman for 18 years and as Mayor Pro-Tem for 16 years.
Rosemary enjoyed baking, playing cards at church, antiquing, garage sales and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Dean Sams of Davenport, grandchildren, Courtney (Zach) Carlson of LeClaire, Mitchell Sams of Davenport, great-grandchildren, Keaten Sams of LeClaire, sisters, Cathy Heltemes of Minneapolis, MN, Charlene Pauli of St. Paul, MN, and brother, Glenn Pauli of Chicago.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers, Lloyd Pauli, Loras Pauli, and Wayne Pauli.
Memorials may be directed to St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Bettendorf.
