Rovene Melvina Schurr, 96, of Bettendorf, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at Trinity Bettendorf.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 2, 2012 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to Northwest Turners Auxiliary or Liedertafel.
Rovene was born on September 4, 1915 in Wyaconda, MO, the daughter of Henry S. and Juda (Anderson) Dyer. On April 25, 1934 in Kirksville, MO, she married Willard Lowe. He preceded her in death in August 4, 1971 when a tractor turned over on him. She then married Harold G. Schurr on December 5, 1975 in Bettendorf. He preceded her in death on July 3, 2008.
Rovene graduated from Kirksville High School in Kirksville, MO. She was a housewife most of her life but taught Girls Scouts of Scott County. Rovene was a member of Scott County Farm Bureau, Northwest Turners Auxiliary, QC Plus-60 Club and the Davenport Moose Lodge. She was also a member of Liedertafel for over 50 years where she was a past officer.
Survivors include her daughter, Gladys L. Treadway of Bettendorf; her son, Charles Lowe of Rock Island; three step children; four grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; six great grandchildren; eight step-great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; one infant son, Marion Dale Lowe; one brother, Paul Francis Dyer; and three sisters, Gertrude Dyer, Hazel Urton and Edna Dyer.
