Roy M. Sprout, 83, of McCausland, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, November 20, 2015 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home. Burial with military rites conducted by the American Legion Buffalo Bill Post #347 will be in Glendale Cemetery in LeClaire. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Roy was born January 14, 1932 in Galt, Missouri, the son of Gerald & LaVon (Robertson) Sprout. He entered the United States Marine Corps in 1952 and was honorably discharged in 1954. Roy was united in marriage to Viola Littrel on September 12, 1953 in Bettendorf.
Roy had worked for John Deere at the plow works for 28 years. He had spent several years on the Mississippi Valley Fair Board and was active as a 4-H leader. He loved horses and watching the St. Louis Cardinals.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Viola; his daughters and sons-in-law, Glenda Sprout of Princeton, Iowa, Sandra & Dean Storjohann of New Franklin, Missouri, Connie & Gerald Hahn of McCausland and Diane & Ron Lee of Long Grove, Iowa; his sons and daughters-in-law, Duane & Sandra Sprout of Princeton and Barry & Beth Sprout of New Franklin; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his brother, Ronald (Nancy) Sprout of Trenton, Missouri.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Mary Ann Gott; his brothers, Gerald and Wilbur; and two great-granddaughters.
