Russell E. Christensen

Russell E. Christensen, 81, of Pleasant Valley, Iowa, died Monday, July 16, 2007 at Riverview Manor, Pleasant Valley.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, July 22, 2007 at Long Grove Christian Church, Long Grove, Iowa. Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Private committal services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Rock Island, Illinois.
Russell was born November 18, 1925 in Lindsay, Nebraska, the son of Magnus F. & Karen M. (Sorensen) Christensen. On December 25, 1954, he was united in marriage to Patricia L. Olson in Rock Island. She preceded him in death on January 3, 1977.
Russell retired in 1991 as an electrician with Augustana College, Rock Island. During World War II, he served with the United States Army and was honorably discharged.
Those left to honor his memory include his daughter and son-in-law, Vicki & Rick Tooley, of Park View, Iowa; his granddaughter, Danielle, of Andrew, Iowa; and his brother, Milton Christensen, of Rock Island.
In addition to his wife, Patricia, he was preceded in death by his parents; his son Randall, his sister, Irene; and his brothers, Roger, Melvin, Robert and Raymond.
