Ruthetta M. Wilson, 93, a resident of Davenport, Iowa died on Monday, April 25, 2011 at the Davenport Good Samaritan Nursing Center.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, April 28, 2011 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Bettendorf. She will be laid to rest at Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Memory Care Unit.
She was born December 12, 1917 in Scott County, Iowa the daughter of Fred Ralston & Mary Ellen (Fletcher) Wallace. On October 19, 1940, she was united in marriage to Wendell K. Wilson in Bettendorf. He preceded her in death on November 22, 1999.
Ruthetta was a devoted wife, mom & homemaker and during the years of World War II, worked at Wright Field in Ohio. Ruthetta also helped her brother in the operation of the Wallace Greenhouse in Bettendorf. She was an active member of the former St. Andrew Presbyterian Church of Davenport where she taught Sunday school for over 50 years. She & her husband were also youth group sponsors at the church.
She dearly loved her cats and took great pleasure in devoting her energy to church work.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Linda (Blaine) Scriven of Coralville, Iowa and Jo (Russ) Hart of Blue Grass, Iowa; her granddaughter, Sue (Bill) Shepherd of Virginia Beach, Virginia; her great-grandchildren, Chris, Jenny, Carrie & Susan; and her very special “additional” family members, Lang (Kinh) Dang and their family of Davenport.
In addition to her husband, Ruthetta was preceded in death by her sisters, Neva Emerson and Edna Harris; her brother, Warren Wallace; and a special nephew, Gary Harris.
