Ruth M. McGill, 87, of Davenport, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2005 at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport after an extended illness. Celebration of Life Services will be 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at Chambers Funeral Home, Eldridge. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Graveside services will be 12:30 P.M. Tuesday in Elm Grove Cemetery, Washington, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans or to the Salvation Army.
Ruth was born April 1, 1918 in Keosauqua, Iowa, the daughter of John & Louisa (Miner) Kimmel. She was united in marriage to William A. “Pat” McGill on July 25, 1936 in Rock Island, Illinois. He preceded her in death on September 21, 1985.
Ruth was employed as a machine operator and assembler at the Planetary Corporation in Davenport. She retired on December 24,1985 after 10 years of employment.
She had been a resident at Good Samaritan Center, Davenport. Ruth was devoted to her Lord and lived her faith always.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters and sons-law, Patricia & Guy Sons, Oxford Junction, Iowa, Marla Jackson, Davenport, Barbara Spurrier, DeWitt, Iowa, and Sue & Ron King, Grand Mound, Iowa; her sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald & Rose McGill, Eldridge, and William & Donna McGill, Bettendorf; 21 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; her sisters Olive Helen Leyden, Washington, and Marietta Canady, Fairfield, Iowa.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Henry, George, Paul, and Fred; and her sisters, Lucy McGaffey, Edith Fisher and Margaret Stalder.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the physicians and staff of the Surgical Care Unit (second floor) at Genesis East for all their support during this time.
