Sam Hockings

Sam L. Hockings, 65, a resident of Davenport, Iowa, died Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at his home.
At the request of the family, no services will be held at this time. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf is handling the arrangements. Memorials in his name may be sent to the Humane Society of Scott County.
Sam was born January 23, 1951 in Centerville, Iowa, the son of Keith L. and Darlene (Exline) Hockings. He graduated from Bettendorf High School and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era.
He was united in marriage to Sharon (Hawkins) Hockings in 1973 with whom they had one child, Natalea.
Sam worked in the U. S. Postal Service for 36 years. When not riding his bicycle, he enjoyed watching Indy Races. He was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Chicago White Sox.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Sharon of Columbia, SC; daughter Natalea (Toby) Koehn, of Cedar Falls; grandson, Henry Samuel Koehn; brother, Paul Hockings of Bettendorf; and nieces, Brittany and Erika.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents.
