Samuel W. Havenhill, 87, of Princeton, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery in Princeton. Memorials may be made to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.
Sam was born July 12, 1931 in Wapello, Iowa, the son of Samuel T. & Beulah (Marlette) Havenhill. He was united in marriage to Lois L. Shaw on June 17, 1955 in LeClaire. She preceded him in death on October 23, 2011.
Sam served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He had worked at Alcoa for 35 years, mainly in the thermal department and retiring as a trucker.
He enjoyed bowling, the Chicago Cubs and morning coffee with his friends.
Those left to honor his memory include his son and daughter-in-law, Michael & Sheila Havenhill of Davenport; his grandchildren, Ambur (Amber), Ashley, Justin, Timmy and Shyanne; his great-grandchildren, Kevin and Raelynn; his brother and sister-in-law, Roger & Beverly Havenhill of LeClaire; and a special niece, Bambi Rankin of Princeton.
In addition to his wife, Lois, Sam was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Timothy on January 22, 2017; and his brother, Ron Keith Havenhill.
