Sandra Carpenter

Sandra L. Carpenter a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at Trinity Bettendorf, Bettendorf, Iowa after a courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, April 22, 2011 at St. John’s United Methodist Church, Davenport, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, Iowa. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, Illinois. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. John’s United Methodist Church or to the special needs children at the “Center”.

Sandra was born in Moline, Illinois the daughter of Everett and Ruehie (Mosher) May. She was united in marriage to Louis L. Carpenter on March 25, 1964 in Moline, Illinois. He preceded her in death August 4, 2006.

Sandra and her husband Louis owned and operated Castle Excavating of Bettendorf, Iowa.

She was a member of the Bettendorf Pilot Club and the Bettendorf Chamber of Commerce.

Sandra enjoyed gardening and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Those left to honor her memory include her sons, Louis Carpenter Jr., Chicago, Illinois and Cory (Ann) Carpenter, LeClaire, Iowa; her grandchildren, Allie, Tanner and Bailey; her sisters, Linda Trich, Springfield, Ohio and Claudine Kern, Springfield, Ohio and her brothers, Everett May, Moline, Illinois and John May, San Antonio, Texas.

In addition to her husband, Louis, she was preceded in death by her parents.
