Sandra Van Zandt

Sandra J. Van Zandt, 70, of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at home. Due to the current pandemic, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.

Sandy was born January 30, 1950 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Richard K. Lohse & Viola E. Roggendorf. Sandy married Dennis E. Van Zandt on February 28, 1971 in Bettendorf.

Sandy was an avid reader, enjoyed sewing, genealogy, and loved taking care of her many rescue dogs. She was a proud member of the Bettendorf Police Citizen Volunteers for many years. She loved helping in the community, and treasured the special friendships she made along the way including her good friend Betty Fischer. Sandy cherished family time, including lunches and outings with her sisters, and annual Christmas and summer visits with her daughter, granddaughter, and son-in-law.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband of 49 years, Dennis E. Van Zandt; her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara A. (Van Zandt) Strand and Eric D. Strand of Celina, Texas; her granddaughter Katherine E. Strand; her sister and brother-in-law Karen L. (Rothert) & Timothy D. Bashaw; sister Barbara L. (Rothert) Brebner; and brother-in-law Thomas P. Grell.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, and sister Katherine L. (Lohse) Grell.
