Sandra Watkins

Sandra L. Watkins, 77, a resident of Davenport, Iowa died on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Manor Care-Utica Ridge in Davenport.
Graveside services will be held at 12:30 P.M. on Wednesday, October 4 2017 at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. Wednesday at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, the American Diabetes Association or a favorite charity.
She was born in Taylor Ridge, Illinois on October 24, 1939, the daughter of Myron and Mildred (Nienaber) Schroeder. On December 14, 1968, she was united in marriage to George O. Watkins in Davenport. He preceded her in death on May 24, 1981.
Sandra worked as a crossing guard in Bettendorf for 14 years and in earlier years, was employed at the Iowa Masonic Health Facility.
Sandra and George were active in the Bettendorf VFW where they were life-members.
She enjoyed were doing cross-stitch, bingo, playing cards and the companionship of her beloved family.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Marybeth McKinney, her twin sons, Mike Watkins and Mark Watkins, all of Bettendorf; her grandchildren, Justin Vance of Bettendorf and Adam (J.C.Suprimido) Watkins of Savanna, Illinois; her sisters, Patricia (Lester) Umland of Moline, Nancy (Thomas) Wilson of Bettendorf and Carolyn (Roger) Grunder of Wilton, Iowa; and her brother, Melvin Schroeder of Silvis, Illinois.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Darlene Schroeder; and her brother, Roland “RT” Schroeder.
