Sarah Mumey

Sarah B. Mumey, 92, of Bettendorf, died Sunday, January 21, 2018 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.  Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the services on Wednesday at the funeral home.  Private committal services will be at Rock Island National Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.

Sarah was born November 15, 1925 in Clearville, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Arnold R. & Ella M. (Leasure) Fetters.  She was united in marriage to Michael M. “Max” Mumey on December 26, 1948 in Rock Island.  He preceded her in death on July 4, 1998.

Sarah proudly lived in her house in Bettendorf for over 50 years.  She enjoyed yardwork and the company of her neighbors, with whom she enjoyed an annual breakfast.  Reading, puzzles and walking were also her pastimes.

She was a longtime member of the Bettendorf VFW Post 9128 Ladies’ Auxiliary and Women of the Moose in Davenport.

Those left to honor her memory include her son and daughter-in-law, Jim & LuAnn Mumey of Bettendorf; her grandchildren, Julie (Jim) Buechel of Bettendorf and Scott (Dawn) Mumey of Bettendorf; and her great-grandchildren, Lauren and Abby Buechel and Ryan, Jacob and Elijah Mumey.

In addition to her husband, Sarah was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Vada, Ruth and Mabel; and her brothers, Carl, John, Fred, Arnold and Leo.
