Sarah E. “Libby” Stinson, 91, of LeClaire, died Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 12:00 p.m., Monday, June 13, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church in LeClaire where she was a member. Burial will follow at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.
She was born February 6, 1924 in Haveredgrace, Maryland, the daughter of Harry & Laura (Walker) Tollenger. Libby was united in marriage to Kenneth L. Stinson Sr. on December 8, 1941 in Haveredgrace. He preceded her in death on March 1, 2009.
She enjoyed crossword puzzles, gambling at the casinos, playing cards and dominoes and attending services at her church.
Those left to honor Libby’s memory include his children, Brenda M. Pruter of Sarasota, Florida, Sharon E. Wangsness of Allison, Iowa, Kenneth L. Stinson, II of LeClaire and Brent M. Stinson of Mount Joy, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
In addition to her husband, Ken, Libby was preceded in death by her parents; her grandson, Terry Forari; one sister; and three brothers.
