Sarah N. Vasquez, 78, of Davenport, Iowa died Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Manor Care Utica Ridge in Davenport.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at Apostolic Assembly in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Monday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Burial will be held in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington, Iowa. Memorials may be made to Apostolic Assembly or the Alzheimer's Association.
Sarah was born April 5, 1933 in Dallas, Texas, the daughter of Victor & Sara (Quijano) Zamora. She was united in marriage to Jacinto “Jack” Vasquez on January 27, 1956 in Dallas. He preceded her in death on June 17, 2001.
Sarah enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved playing Uno, puzzles, crocheting and gardening.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter and son-in-law, Corine & Eliseo Cerda of Burlington; her sons and daughters-in-law, Jacinto “Jack” & Paula Vasquez Jr. of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Mario & Adela Vasquez of Davenport; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret & Joe Ortega of Bettendorf and Linda & Raol Gomez of Moline, Illinois; and her brothers and sisters-in-law, Victor & Katherine Zamora of Peoria, Illinois and Daniel L. & Rosie Zamora of Aurora, Illinois.
In addition to her husband, Jacinto, Sarah was preceded in death by her parents; her step-mother, Angela Zamora; and her sister, Jovita M. Zamora.
