Sarijane was born on November 16, 1943 in Amboy, Illinois, the daughter of Elton and Arlene (Reuter) Becker. Following her graduation from LaMoille High School in 1961, she continued her education at Rockford Business College where she achieved her degree in office administration. On August 7, 1966 she was united in marriage to Richard K. King in Rockford. They made their home in Decatur, Illinois where Sarijane served as church secretary for over 20 years at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. She was a talented vocalist and sang for countless funerals and weddings through the years. In 1992, she and Richard returned to the LaMoille area, where Sarijane served at various churches prior to her retirement from First United Methodist Church, Mendota. Her unwavering faith in God and unconditional love for her family combined to make her the wonderful wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister, aunt, and friend that she was to so many. She will be remembered for her gift of never meeting a stranger, her endearing sense of humor, and the sage advice to “watch for deer!” Sarijane was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Walnut.
