Scott D. Mayer, 41, a resident of Davenport, died on Wednesday, October 10, 2007 in a truck crash on I-95 in Woodbridge, VA
A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Friday, October 19, 2007 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. till the time of service Friday. As per the family's wishes cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials may be made to the family.
Scott was born on October 21, 1965 in Davenport, the son of Edwin E. and Lois (Jackson) Negus. He was united in marriage to Michelle Myers in Moline, Illinois on January 3, 1984.
Scott worked as an over the road truck driver for the past 20 years. He was the owner and operator of his own company Team Mayer Trucking. He was known to many by his CB handle rd2nowhere.
Scott enjoyed working on cars, restoring cars, drag racing, motorcycles and fishing. He loved spending time with his boys, family and friends. He was a great provider for his family.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Michelle Mayer of Davenport; his sons, Brandon Allen (DeAun) Mayer of Davenport, who is leaving next month for recruit training for the United States Marine Corps and Dustin Edwin Mayer of Davenport; his grandson, Ethan Scott Mayer; his brother, Jeff Mayer of Davenport; his sisters, Holly (Floyd) Mayer Brewer of Casey, Illinois and Terri (Paul) Negus White of Davenport; his wrenchin’ buddies, Mike Bartosch, Robert White, Greg Elke, Bob Taylor and Tim Maynard; his eight nieces; his four nephews and many other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Lois and his grandma Hanna Baker.
