Shaun Mcfate

Shaun Michael McFate, 35, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa passed away at his home.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, March 1, 2013 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Bettendorf.  Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to his 9-year old son, Blake McFate or to the Princeton (IA) Presbyterian Church.

He was born in Iowa City, Iowa on January 19, 1978, the son of Larry A. “Chubbs” McFate and Sheryl (Wood) McFate and was a 1996 graduate of Pleasant Valley High School.

Shaun was employed in maintenance for Bettendorf Rental & Storage.

He enjoyed being with his son, playing pool, stock car racing, fishing and working on anything motorized or mechanical.

Those left to honor his memory include his son, Blake of Bettendorf; his father, Larry “Chubbs” McFate of Bettendorf; his mother, Sheryl K. Stanley, North Charleston, South Carolina; his sister, Krystle Bolton of North Charleston, South Carolina; his grandparents, Ellen McFate of Bettendorf, Kate McClintic of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Vernon Wood of Lincoln, Nebraska; his aunts, Karen Sue Brown of Moline, Illinois, Cindy Ellis of Joy, Illinois, Debbie Hall of Peyton, Colorado, Kristy Bowker of Lincoln, Nebraska and Laurie Aufdemberge of Abilene, Kansas; his uncles, Dennis McFate of Bettendorf, Loren McFate of Davenport, Iowa, Dino McFate of Davenport, Iowa and Brandon McClintic of Phoenix, Arizona; his nieces, Emma & Stella; and many cousins.

Shaun was preceded in death by his grandfather, Larry McFate; his uncle, Terry McFate; and his great-grandparents, Charles & Olga Kerr, Floyd & Christine Bickel, Everett & Elsie Wood and Joseph & Clara Maas.
