Shellye Meyer

July 20, 1961 — January 24, 2013

Shellye Jean Arntzen Meyer, 51, of Bettendorf, passed away Thursday, January 24, 2013 at her home.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 28, 2013 at Bettendorf Christian Church in Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services on Monday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Shellye Meyer Memorial Fund. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.
Shellye was born on July 20, 1961 in Lincoln, NE the daughter of James and Dotty (Ritchey) Arntzen.
Shellye graduated from Southeast High School in Lincoln, NE and later graduated with a degree in biology from Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln. She loved water, swimming for many teams including her years in high school and one year in college.
Throughout her life, Shellye worked for plant nurseries in Nebraska and Iowa. She had a loved for plants and flowers and had a tremendous “green thumb.” She sold real estate for many different companies in the Quad Cities. Shellye enjoyed beading, making bracelets and necklaces for her friends and family. She was a founding member of Morning Star Academy in Bettendorf and a member of Bettendorf Christian Church, both of which she loved dearly. Shellye loved life and loved her traveling adventures with her best friend, Louie.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Molly Meyer of Bettendorf; her parents, Jim and Dotty Arntzen of Lincoln, NE; one sister, Kellye (Rodney) Anderson and one brother, Jeff Arntzen, both of Lincoln, NE; a nephew, Ryan and a niece, Alex, and the love of her life, Louie Fisher of Bettendorf.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
