Sherry J. Cook, 68, of Bettendorf, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2024 at her residence.
Per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and a celebration of life will be held at The Tangled Wood in Bettendorf, Iowa at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, January 19th. Memorials may be directed to the Fire & Safety Department at East Moline Speedway. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Sherry was born on January 22, 1956 in Davenport, the daughter of Frankie Jr. and Clara (VanBlaricome) Zemo. She graduated from Pleasant Valley High School in 1974. On January 18, 1980, she married Robert Connors, and then later married William Cook on April 16, 1990. Prior to her retirement in 2012, Sherry worked in various positions, including logistics and ammunition sales, at the Rock Island Arsenal for over 25 years. She was a devoted blood donor, avid sports fan, and race car enthusiast. Sherry enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Bulls. She was also a member of her condominium board.
Those left to honor her memory are her daughter, Bobby Jo (Bryan) Waldbusser of Lynn Center, Illinois; four grandchildren, Gracie Ellen McHenry, Jordyn Alyssa McHenry, Kylie Waldbusser, and Brady Waldbusser; two great-grandchildren, Grayson and Kaisan Waldbusser; mother, Clara Zemo of LeClaire; siblings, Shelly (Marsha) Voigt-Zemo of Davenport, Tina (Tina) Zemo of LeClaire, and Anthony (Anne) Zemo of LeClaire, nieces and nephews, Kane Zemo and Katia Zemo; and also loved by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Frankie.
