Shirley M. Freeman, 84, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf after a courageous battle with cancer.
A time of visitation and remembrance will be held on Friday, August 11, 2017 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Clarissa Cook Hospice House.
She was born in Fairfield, Iowa on August 10, 1932, the daughter of Roscoe & Osha (Wood) Riggs. On December 28, 1952, she was united in marriage to Eugene Freeman in Fairfield.
Shirley was employed for 20 years with the local McDonald’s franchises in a variety of positions.
She was a devoted and loving wife, mom, grandma & great-grandma. Family vacations and holidays spent with those she loved were favorite times for Shirley. She also enjoyed doing embroidery in her spare time.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Eugene; her children, Bill Freeman, Debbie (Dan) Winslow and Linda (Randy) Houston, all of LeClaire, Iowa; her grandchildren, Nicole and William Freeman; Randy, Matt, Derek and Steffane Winslow; and Zach, Bryant and Lindsay Houston; eight great-grandchildren; and her sister, Charlotte Klise of Topeka, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers, Wayne, Harry, Vera, Ruth, James and Jerry.
