Shirley Ann Marcado

Shirley Ann Marcado.  March 6, 1932 to November 5, 2023

Shirley Marcado passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on November 5^th, 2023 at the Iowa Masonic Home in Bettendorf, Iowa with her children by her side.  She was born March 6th, 1932 to Esther and Homer Olson in Racine, Wisconsin.  She married Richard Tarwid in 1954, until 1970.  She remarried in 1972 to Sol Marcado until his passing in 2002.  She lived in Racine until 1997, Bradenton, Florida from 1997 to 2003, and Bettendorf, Iowa from 2003.

Shirley was the consummate grandmother and had a wonderful sense of humor.  She enjoyed gardening, reading, finding great deals at Goodwill, and Netflix documentaries until her final days.

She is survived by her six children, Sandra (Kim), Richard Jr (Laura), Alice, Robert (Sally), Peter, all of Racine, WI, Teresa (Paul) of Bettendorf, IA, and stepson Rick (Nancy) Marcado of Racine, WI. She has 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff at Iowa Masonic and Compassus Hospice for their amazing care.  A family gathering is planned in the future.   In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Iowa Masonic Home in Bettendorf or your local animal shelter.
