Shirley Mcvay

Shirley L. McVay, 74, of Davenport, died Sunday, February 5, 2012 at Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, February 10, 2012 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery in Davenport.

Shirley was born January 25, 1938 in Princeton, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence & Martha (Russell) Hill.

Shirley enjoyed drawing, reading and listening to old-time country music. She will be missed by her loving family.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Cindy Coon of Davenport, Djuana McVay of Davenport and Shelly (Chris) Deitrick of Ernest, Pennsylvania; her sons and daughters-in-law, John & Susan McVay of Davenport, Rodney & Debra McVay of Gilbert, Arizona, Larry & Rose McVay of Davenport and Howard & Tina McVay of Davenport; twenty-six grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; her sisters, Evelyn Sampson of Davenport, Agnes Jensen of Princeton and Patricia (Larry) George of Muscatine, Iowa; her brother, Laverne Hill of Davenport; her sister-in-law, June Roberts of Davenport; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat, Inky-Dinky.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Christopher McVay; her brothers, Clarence Hill and Harold Hill; a special niece, June Schumacher; and her great-granddaughter, Ava Grace.
