Shirley Jean Woodford

Shirley Jean (Hartley) Woodford, the youngest of eight children, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 25th, 2024, at Senior Star at Elmore Place in Davenport, Iowa. She was 91 years old. Inurnment will take place at a later date to be decided. Chambers Funeral Home of Eldridge, Iowa is assisting with arrangements.

Shirley Jean Hartley was born on January 13, 1933, in Oakville, Iowa, the daughter of Phillip and Violet (Skeels) Hartley. She married Charles Woodford on June 16th, 1951. He preceded her in death on November 22, 2011.

She and her husband farmed north of Long Grove, Iowa for 53 years where she resided until 2022. They raised many different animals; however the goats were her favorite, along with her cats and dogs. She enjoyed gardening and growing beautiful flowers along with bird watching.

Shirley was loved dearly by her family. Survivors include her son Mark (Vicki) Woodford of Grand Mound, Iowa; her grandson, Jason (Heidi) Woodford & their children, Nickolas, Bryant and Courtney; her grandson, Jeremy (Carrie) Woodford & their children Alexus, Alyssa and Logan; her great-great-grandchildren, Anayah, Anderson, Gavin and Greyson; and a special cousin, Joann Fisher.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and six brothers. May they all rest in peace.
