Shirley Zinger

Shirley (Blackman) Zinger, 87, a resident of Pleasant Valley, died Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Trinity Bettendorf.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Burial will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Saturday. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Born on January 22, 1927 in Pleasant Valley, Shirley was the daughter of Harvey and Hazel (Malchau) Blackman. She married Don Zinger in 1948. They later divorced. From this marriage came their son, Gregg Douglas.
Shirley worked as a secretary for a local business in Bettendorf. She enjoyed living near the river and watching the beautiful birds of the area.
Those left to honor her memory include her nieces and nephews, Diane Hammill of Davenport, Sharon (Todd) Nelson of Lone Tree, CO, Stephen (Phyllis) Hentze of Low Moor, Walter (Suzette) Hentze of Lakeland, FL, Mark Hentze of Lakeland, FL, Gary (Aja) Hentze of Davenport and David (Colleen) Hentze of Davenport; and many great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Gregg Douglas Zinger; and her brother and sisters.
