Shirley Ann Meier, 71, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died Tuesday, October, 2008 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 A.M. Monday, October 13, 2008 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Sunday at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf with a Christian wake service at 4:00 P.M.. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Kewanee, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Associatioin.
Shirley was born November 10, 1936 in Galesburg, Illinois the daughter of Lowell Russell and Margaret June (Stotts) Holmes. She spent her life as a happy homemaker.
Those left to honor her memory include her step-father, Robert J. Ainley of Kewanee, Illinois; her son, Brian (Wendy) DeKeyser of Atlanta, Georgia; her daughter, Julie (Peter) Dokas of Rapids City, Illinois; her eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; her sisters, Cecelia (Chuck) Basham of Galesburg, Illinois and Janet (Ron) Morris of Neponset, Illinois; her brothers, Russell L. (Bev) Holmes of Richmond, Virginia, James P. (Judy) Holmes of East Peoria, Illinois and William R. (Sandy) Holmes of Suisun, California and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lowell and Margaret and her brother, John E. Holmes.
