Silvana N. “Sally” Bettis McFarland, 93, of Bettendorf, passed away Friday, January 1, 2016 at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Burial will be at Russell Cemetery, Russell, Iowa. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Tuesday. Memorials may be made to Bob Gass Ministries.
Born on March 13, 1922 in Russell, Sally was the daughter of Roy and Idella Hudson. She married Oril Bettis on August 30, 1941 in Lineville, Missouri. He preceded her in death on May 25, 1972. She married Orie McFarland on September 6, 1975 in Davenport. He preceded her in death on June 24, 2005.
Sally was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing, embroidery and crocheting. She attended Westside Assembly of God in Davenport and Bethel Assembly of God in Rock Island.
Survivors include her daughters, Sondra (Stan) Remer of Chesapeake, Virginia, Ilene (Don) Stroud of Long Grove and Nancy Bettis of Bettendorf; 21 grandchildren and several great and great-great grandchildren; step-daughter, Patty Hamilton of Kirksville, Missouri; and step-daughter-in-law, Helena McFarland of Ottumwa, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; step-children, Donna Thompson, Virginia Fox and her husband, Dennis, Marvin “Corky” and Orie Junior McFarland; brother, John Hudson; sisters, Martha Green and Juanita Brewer.
