Sophie Foster

Sophie Foster, 96, of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 17, 2023 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the services on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Oakdale Memorial Gardens in Davenport. Memorials may be made to the Bettendorf Police and Fire Departments.

Sophie was born August 13, 1926 to Moses and Susie (Hagopian) O’Hanesian in Bettendorf. An independent and vibrant personality from the beginning, Sophie attended Davenport Central High School before pursuing work in industrial labor then as a bar owner and most recently, as a successful real estate investor. Despite her successes, Sophie was known for always lending a helping hand and also offering her sage advice (whether solicited or unsolicited).

Sophie was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her good friend, Elmer Petersen.
