Stella M. Fuller, 89, of Bettendorf, Iowa, died Monday, October 23, 2017 at the Iowa Masonic Health Facility in Bettendorf.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until the time of Mass on Thursday at the church. Private family committal services will be on Friday at Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Iowa Masonic Health Facility or to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.
Stella was born August 21, 1928 in Marble Rock, Iowa, the daughter of Matt & Katherine (Merfeld) Schmitt. She was united in marriage to Robert J. Burkhardt and later united in marriage to Phillip A. Fuller Sr. on November 29, 1982. He preceded her in death on May 20, 2011.
Stella was retired from the Rock Island Arsenal. A loving wife and mother, she will be remembered as always being there for her children. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, quilting, sewing and crochet. She also enjoyed going to garage sales and painting.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, Ken Burkhardt, Amboy, Illinois, Barb (Phil) Dismore, Bettendorf, Rita (Al Cornish) Burkhardt, Bettendorf, Shelly (Craig) Pantzlaff, Bettendorf, Frank Burkhardt, Calamus, Iowa and Dennis (Sue) Burkhardt, Davenport, Iowa; 21 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren; and her step-children, Phillip (Gloria) Fuller Jr., Cheryle (Terry) Haygood, Melissa (Gary) Thomas and Gretchen (Blaine) Eckstein.
In addition to her husband, Phil; Stella was preceded in death by her parents; her son and daughter-in-law, Joe & Jennifer Burkhardt; and several brothers and sisters.
