Steven John “Pete” Corson, 70, a resident of LeClaire, Iowa died on Saturday, October 05, 2024 at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, Iowa.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Graveside services will follow at Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Princeton, Iowa.
Steven John “Pete” Corson was born August 24, 1954 to Evelyn and Raymond Corson in Iowa City, Iowa. Pete was the youngest of 10 children. His childhood began in Franklin, Iowa, but when Pete was 7 years old the family moved to LeClaire, Iowa. Pete subsequently graduated from Pleasant Valley High School in 1972 and built his life in and around LeClaire and Princeton.
After high school, Pete had multiple jobs but settled into a career in construction. Pete had many roles on the job, but eventually grew into the role of a heavy equipment operator. He spent over 35 years running backhoes, excavators and bulldozers, and was a loyal member of the Midwest Operating Engineers. He retired in 2015.
0utside of work, Pete was an exceptional pool player and participated in local pool leagues around Le Claire and Princeton for years. He also enjoyed golf. Many Saturdays were spent chasing golf balls around the course with friends.
Above all, though, Pete enjoyed his family. He was fiercely loyal to his mother and enjoyed cards and story telling with his sisters, brothers (whether any of them will admit it or not), brother-in-law, and his nieces and nephews.
Pete was proceeded in death by his parents, two brothers, Greg Corson of LeClaire, Iowa and Larry Corson of Austin, Texas, his sister Pat Marshall of Montrose, Iowa, and two brothers-in-law, James Bogert of Bowling Green, Missouri and Milan Marshall of Montrose, Iowa.
Pete is survived by a sister Frances Bogert of Bowling Green Missouri, five brothers, Ronnie of Winfield, Iowa, Frank of Dewitt, Iowa, Gary of Gardner, Kansas, Alan (Debbie) of Le Claire Iowa, and Kenny (Kathy) of Princeton, Iowa and a half-sister Myra Applehans of Sparks Nevada. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews that he loved and enjoyed.
