Steven Dale Bloyd, 47, a resident of Long Grove, Iowa died unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus in Davenport, Iowa.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, December 7, 2009 at the Bettendorf Christian Church, 3487 Towne Pointe Dr., Bettendorf. Burial will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Long Grove. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Sunday, December 6, 2009 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Stacey for their children’s education.
Steven was born February 9, 1962 in Carthage, Illinois, the son of Dale R. & Nancy Jo (Miller) Bloyd. He graduated from Bettendorf High School in 1980 and received his degree in accounting from St. Ambrose University in Davenport.
On May 19, 2007, he was united in marriage to Stacey M. Bauer at the Old St. Ann’s Church in Long Grove.
He was currently studying for his teaching degree in education at St. Ambrose University and had planned to become a teacher. Steve had been employed in sales at Stetson Building Materials of Rock Island and in earlier years, in sales at Brenny’s Motorcycle Shop in Bettendorf.
Steve loved motorcycles and had a fondness for old cars as well.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Stacey; his beloved daughter, Marissa who was truly the light of his life; his son, Collin; his parents, Dale & Nancy Bloyd of Bettendorf; his sister, Sandi (Rodney) Fink of Bettendorf; his nephew, Corporal Brian Fink, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps at Camp Lejeune North Carolina; his niece, Samantha Fink, a student at Central College at Pella, Iowa; his aunts, Sherry (Jake) Ewers of Lone Tree, Iowa, Pat Peevler of Keokuk, Iowa and Zula (Ron) Feather of Warsaw, Illinois; his uncles, Glenn Allen (Joyce) Miller of Carson City, Nevada and Eldon (Sylvia) Bloyd of Warsaw, Illinois; and his parents-in-law, Roger & JoAnn Bauer of Hastings, Minnesota.
Steve was preceded in death by two grandmothers & one grandfather.
The family extends their sincere thanks to the physicians, nurses and therapists who cared for Steve at Genesis West.
